It's All About Me

Looking out of the window one day,
What a nice view for a lovely day!
Nature calms me in a special way,
Taking my sorrows and stress away.

Bitter, sweet, sour and salty,
Tastes and spices make me happy,
Eating and cooking are my art,
Creating joy deep in my heart.

Sowing the seeds of endless love,
Showering me with care and hope,
Caring siblings and loving parents,
The time that we spent are like heaven.

People come and people go,
Appreciating them as they treat me so,
Life is full of high and low,
I just have to know when it's time to let go.

Lending a hand to those in need,
Is what my dad used to say indeed,
A little help can make a big difference,
You'll feel the joy if you have love and patience.

I'm Blue~

The rainbow has seven colours. If we were to mix all the colours together, we will have white. It's an interesting fact that I came to know when I was in primary school. We were so excited when our Science Teacher mixed the colours together and it feels like magic when all these beautiful colours turned into white.

Colours give us life. It makes everything that we see so beautiful and full of life. Just imagine if everything is merely black and white. Our lives would definitely be dull and boring. We wouldn't choose pretty clothes that look good on us and the food that we eat would seems tasteless.

Colours can represent our characters as well. I used to love the colour pink when I was a little girl. It seems that girls are very much associated with this colour since it gives a sense of feminine, innocent and joy. But as I grow older, I found myself buying stuff that are blue in colour. I would decorate my room with blue paintings and choose a blue bed sheet instead of a pink one. I started to fall in love with the light blue sky and the deep blue sea as I go for outings more often. It gives me a peace of mind when I look into things that are blue. I even have a blue fighting fish named Bobo. I feel calm when I see its blue tail dances gracefully as it swims freely in a big aquarium.

I'm a person who loves nature and blue is the colour that suits me best, I guess. I notice that I would feel happier when I spend time outdoors compared to indoors. The birds that were flying in the vast sky makes me feel that I'm one of them and I like to think of myself as a carefree person who is free of troubles and worries. I mean, I used to worry a lot and think too much. Sometimes I feel that I tend to make my life miserable by pondering on things that are not relevant and I used to feel bad about it. My dad will usually advise me to focus on things that could make myself feel better and let go of the 'bad things'. I realized that the colour blue has a very powerful mean to make me feel peace and tranquil. I like sitting on the beach as everything in front of me would be blue. The sky and the ocean are separated by a horizon that gives a captivating view of light and dark blue. The burden that I carry on my back would feel lighter and I know that my heart feels the same way too. :)

I love blue. I hope that it will make me a better person as it symbolizes independent as well. It's a colour that shows strength and capability. A person wearing a blue shirt seems to be more productive and it seems that nothing could stop him from accomplishing his chores. He knows what is the right thing to do at the right time. His life would be fruitful and joyful and he tends to appreciate even the simplest things in life.

On top of that, blue shows unity. I love being around people and we would play, laugh and work together as a team. I love the way we get things done when everybody plays their roles well. I love making friends and would often take the initiative to talk to a stranger. Well, who knows if he or she is going to be your next best friend when you found out that both of you share many commons things together. I'm a friendly person and that is what the colour blue conveys. It makes you feel calm and soothes your mind and soul. That is proven when someone shows that he or she is comfortable having you around! :)

USMKK Chinese Cultural Night

I felt reluctant to wake up after a 4-hour-sleep the night before. Practices made me weary, but I knew that I have to get myself out of bed because today is the 'THE DAY" for all who are involved in USMKK Chinese Cultural Night. I got a nice bath and packed my stuff for the day. We started off with some 'warming up' and practiced a few times before the make up team call us to the backstage to do our hair. They made 2 smaller plaits and roll my hair up into a bun. It made me felt like I'm girl in an old Chinatown street back in the 1930's. Well, it's supposed to be like that because that's what our theme was all about. :)

After lunch, we rehearsed on stage and we didn't perform well. Our directors were quite worried that we would not be able to give our best performance that night. That made us feel down as well. They motivated us to do our best and said that we should enjoy our performance. We had our make up done in the afternoon and practiced more. Some of us were not feeling well but we were determined to give all that we've got.

The time has finally came. The lights on the stage shone on our faces and beautiful outfits and we smiled widely at the audience. The music played and we sang harmoniously. No more off-pitching and no more awkward movements. Our voices blend in so well that we were certain that we were doing the right thing. We sang with all our hearts and the song ended with a loud applause from the floor.

We felt on top of the world after the performance. The feeling that we had accomplished our mission well were hard to describe with words. All our hard work paid off and we are very thankful to our seniors that had put in a lot of effort to teach and guide us. I can see that they really care for us and they have sacrifice a lot of time in making the event a successful one.

It's a very memorable night for me. My family and loved ones had came to support us. New friendship was built and another strong bond has been developed among us.
